Literature Review: Open Visitations in ICU Oksana Bjorlie Walden Univer

Literature Review: Open Visitations in ICU Studies have shown that open ICU visitation is an asset rather than a hindrance with respect to a patient’s wellbeing. Since the 1950s, visiting has changed from a strict nurse-controlled regime to a more flexible patient-centered approach (Taylor, 2008, p. 30). Family inclusion in patient care is evolving into a collaborative model between patient, family and healthcare providers. In response to this collaboration of patient and family-centered care (PFCC), this method has been encouraged in order to achieve the most beneficial outcomes for patients and their families. Open visitation in the ICU should be encouraged, not because of the pressure of growing social awareness, but because it can provide comprehensive responses to the needs of patients and their families. Many studies are being conducted on this subject garnering a great deal of support prompting the implementation of PFCC, which encourages open visitation in ICU. The following is a brief summary of research studies concerning the current state of knowledge related to the promotion and benefits of open visitation in the ICU. Literature Sources The main purpose of conducting a literature review is to obtain the most usable and reliable studies that pertain to the topic of the interest. High reliability and quality of evidence-based studies are provided by filtered sources. For my review I was able to find systematic reviews and individual articles. All of these reviews pertain to the dilemma of open visitation vs. restricted visitation in Intensive Care Units. With multiple views from different perspectives I was able to utilize the comparison and trials approaches. Glasswells Trifle :: essays research papers fc

Psychopathic: One Murder after Another In Susan Glaspell’s Trifles, Mrs. Wright has been arrested for the murder of her husband. The author describes her as a hard working house wife. She would spend hours in the hot summer making fruit preserves. Minnie Foster uses to be lively and social before she married John Wright. She would sing in a choir like a beautiful bird. From this perspective, readers will surely believe she is innocent. There is no way a sweet lady like her could have committed such a hideous crime, or could she? Although she had a normal personality, Mrs. Wright possesses a dark side. The killing of her husband is not an act of revenge for the death of her bird, but surely an act of a psychopath.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  According to Cleckley, psychopaths normally show anxiety and do not feel guilt once they have committed a crime. Cleckley states, â€Å"The crimes of psychopaths are usually stone-cold, remorseless killings for no apparent reason. They cold-bloodedly take what they want and do as they please without the slightest sense of guilt or regret† (Cleckley). Psychopaths lack the ability to feel remorse and empathy. They feed themselves with the suffering of their victims. Sometimes, they collect certain things from their victims and keep them as trophies. In addition, psychopaths are calculated predators. Once they have picked a victim, they will take days or even weeks to plan out the attack. Robert Hare once claims, â€Å"Psychopaths must have stimulation and are prone to boredom† (Hare). Psychopaths need to have a social life; they need be able to communicate with others. If they do not have this access, they tend to, as many sociologists believe, â€Å"burst† and resort to violence just like Mrs. Wright.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Mrs. Wright exemplifies a psychopath because she exhibits many of its characteristics. Most readers, if not all, believe that Mrs. Wright kills her husband. Some consider it an act of revenge; however, it is not. The killing is an act of a psychopath. In the beginning of the story, Hale describes Mrs. Wright as anxious â€Å"and was kind of-pleating (her apron)† (1325). When people are nervous, they usually grab on to something that they have been accustomed to for many years. In Mrs. Wright’s case, it is her apron. As stated earlier, psychopaths usually show anxiety after killing their victim and Mrs. Wright displays it as she sits on her chair.

Romeo and Juliet Essay

Text Analysis: Complexity of love in Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a complex tragedy exploring different dynamics of love and particularly true love. The play confronts the audience with the very old enmity between two families. The focus is primarily around Romeo and Juliet but also infatuation and brotherly love. Several interpretations have being made, although reading scenes from the real play give a direct familiarity with the text. Romeo and Juliet the play is opened with a focus on the Montague’s and Romeos relationship with Rosaline. The first introduction to Romeo is by mention from his mother Lady Montague. She appears worried and asks her husband and Benvolio if they have seen Romeo. The Dialogue indicates that Romeo has being very upset and was seen walking with tears streaming from his eyes he has also being shutting himself in his room†¦ â€Å"So early walking did I see your son†¦ Many a morning hath there been seen, with tears augmenting the fre sh morning dew. † (Act 1 line 120, 129-30).Romeo is presented as being deeply in love with Rosaline. Shakespeare may have added this scene exaggerating Romeos dismay to emphasize how quickly his feelings change when he sees Juliet also to underline how Romeo and Juliet share an undeniable love which he clearly did not have with Rosaline. Romeo’s sudden change of emotion is clear in â€Å"If I profane with my unworthiest hand This holy shrine, the gentle sin this is: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss. (Act 1 Scene 5 line 90) where he first sees Juliet and wants to kiss her hand. Romeo declares that his feelings for Rosaline are completely gone when he sees Friar Lawrence â€Å"†¦ With Rosaline, my ghostly father? No; I have forgot that name and that name’s woe† (Lines 35-45 Act 2 Scene 3) and inquires about taking Juliet’s hand. At first FL believes Romeo is there to speak to him about Ros aline and gives a small speech to Romeo accentuating how Romeo was conveyed to be feeling. These series of events unquestionably prove that Shakespeare used Romeos first relationship (Rosaline and Romeo) to show that they did not share love but rather an infatuation (Superficial love) which is proven when Romeo finds his true love with Juliet giving viewers a more certain opinion that Romeo and Juliet do in fact have true love it was very important Shakespeare utilised this to ensure that the audience did not doubt the abrupt love or mistake it for infatuation as an author Shakespeare also used diverse language techniques nd altered the characters actions (When Rosaline and Romeo broke up, Romeo no more than cried; When Juliet was thought dead Romeo then to killed himself) He manipulated the audience into believing Romeo and Juliet’s love was real. The enmity between two of Verona’s noble families, tore two sides between many of the residences. Bringing the conflict out side of the two family’s immediate family and also involving close friends. This type of dedication and loyalty is very risky as Escalus had become weary of the fights disturbing the rest of the community.Declaring the next person to fight in the risk of being banished from Verona; which resulted in even defending a family that Mercutio was not a part of. This is an example of a deep unconditional love and friendship, or family type bond which Mercutio and Romeo shared. Unlike other relationships the brotherly love showed a different dynamic to Shakespeare’s writing abilities. He illustrated he could use formal language and informal language between different characters to one another. Informal language is commonly used between the characters with brotherly love, as this is in the intimacy of the friendship and not in serious situation.Often spoken by Mercutio, until his last moment alive. Shakespeare upheld his level of wit and humour in a somewhat relaxed manor †Å"†¦ Good King of cats, nothing but one of your nine lives, that I mean to make bold withal; and, as you shall use hereafter, dry-beat the rest of the eight. Will you pluck your sword out of his pilcher by the ears? Make haste, lest mine be about your ears ere it be out†¦ † (Act 3 Scene 1 lines 175-177) Here Shakespeare has used Mercutio’s attitude to belittle Tybalt saying he wishes to attack him, asking him to do as he pleases and quickly (with haste).Because of this it is very hard to precisely generalize Romeo and Juliet as a Drama play or Comedy (this could also broaden Shakespeare’s range of Audience). Romeo shows his heart break and depression over Mercutio’s death killing Tybalt and consequently becoming banished. Tybalt, also Juliet’s cousin causes Romeo and his actions damage his relationship with Juliet making the families anger and hate towards each other increasingly raw also giving Juliet’s parents more reason to despi se Romeo as an individual. Romeo’s actions were an intense show of emotion as he essentially put Mercutio before Juliet.Shakespeare uses the concept Love at first sight as a basis for Romeo and Juliet’s love and then developing it into a physical and endless connection, using the initial family feud as a foundation to create an innovative love story it was an ideal situation to exhibit how they’re immediate love was stronger than there love for their family as both Romeo and Juliet question their own names and decide the enmity does not affect how they feel nor does the families opinions have an input into the decision to get married.Juliet goes to a severe level to avoid marrying Paris; Shakespeare also causes Juliet’s actions to create immense grief for her family even though she did not actually die at first. This yet again expresses Juliet’s weakening consideration and love for her family as she put her family through extreme sadness for Romeo not taking into account their reactions or heartbreak and only thinking of her and Romeo’s relationship. The two lovers act very quickly not using much thought or contemplation throughout the play (Romeo taking poison straight after seeing Juliet without thinking of other solutions) â€Å"Arms take your last embrace! And lips, O you the doors of breath, seal with a righteous kiss. A dateless bargain to ongoing death! Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavoury guide! Thou despite pilot, not at once run back on the dashing rocks thy sea-sick weary bark! Here’s to my love [drinks] O true apothecary thy drugs are quick†¦ † (Act 5 scene 3 lines 113-18) Demonstrating Shakespeare’s idea of true love as the couple puts their love for one another before everything else in their love.In conclusion the types of love shown in the whole play are not only complex but a deep insight into what lovers may of felt like in Shakespeare’s time. The audience could clearl y recognize the types of love within this play and also pulls people in. Shakespeare’s dramatised use of language is endless in time and can be understood and interoperated clearly, the descriptive use of texts gives a broad and personal level to understanding what is being said. The drama and exaggeration of each conversation makes the tragedy interesting and there is always something attention-grabbing being said or going on. Romeo and Juliet Essay Romeo and Juliet, one of the world’s most popular love stories and for over 400 years spectators and students have enjoyed this story based on passion, true love, hate, sorrow, and most of all, tragedy. Tragedy is defined as a medieval narrative poem or tale typically describing the downfall of a great man or a misfortune. What are the factors responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Could it be a family feud, a misunderstanding, or true love (fate)? The first factor that is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is the family feud. The Capulet’s and the Montague’s would have never allowed Romeo and Juliet to be wed this became the forbidden love. These two families and their ancestors of many centuries past have been feuding over matters that have become irrelevant and forgotten in time. In other words the two families no longer remember the causes of their feuding but this led to the tragic event of Romeo and Juliet. The feud was the cause of Tyba lts death by the hands of Romeo therefore adding more conflict for the two families and making it seem impossible too ever resolve their difference and come to terms with each other for Romeo and Juliet’s sake.Capulet, Juliet’s father, had prearranged his daughter’s future with Paris who would become her husband unaware of her new status†¦ married. The second factor responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death was â€Å"the big misunderstanding. † The lack of communication between our two lovers was without a doubt the biggest cause of this misfortune. On the day of her wedding to Paris, in order to withdraw from this prearranged marriage; Juliet with the assistance of the local Friar, had a plan that seemed flawless. Juliet was to fake her own death by ingesting a sleeping potion that would last approximately 42 hours. This would end her existence with the Capulet’s so she could gain a new life with the Montague. Romeo, exiled from Verona, was to receive the crucial message of Juliet’s plans and that all was going to be resolved. A breakdown in communication to Romeo caused him to believe his true love had deceased and therefore taking his own life was to be the next step by convincing himself that he could not live without her. â€Å"My bounty is as boundless as the sea, my love as deep. The more I give to thee, the more I have, for are infinite. †(2. 2. 139-141). hose are Juliet’s words expressing what it means to truly being in love. The third factor that is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is true love. It is a story of two young adolescents that have fallen in love regardless of family feuds, boundaries, restrictions, and the â€Å"forbidden love†. Their passion and love would conquer all obstacles that would come their way as a true test to their commitment to each other. Upon the news of Juliet’s death and funeral, Romeo is left in pain and sorrow and seeks upon himself to terminate the pain by ingesting a poison of death.Juliet awakens only to find her true beside her unresponsive and lifeless. A moment in time that seems endless, Juliet in a state of shock and sorrow reaches for the remaining liquid to end her life. Her plan fails as she is still within the reality of this nightmare and to her demise she reaches for the dagger and solemnly takes her life to be with Romeo; her true love. In conclusion, these factors were without doubt responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet as they followed a sequence of events beginning with two families in a feud from many centuries that would lead conclusively to a forbidden love. Two individuals attempting to be together in love forever yet devastated by misinterpretation and destroyed by love. A tragic story is to have a sorrowful and disastrous conclusion or the downfall of hero(es). Romeo and Juliet were heroes regarding the family feud. As a result of their tragic death, both families recogni zed that the senseless feuding had to end and that it took the loss of true love for this realization. Overcoming Pt Lapindo Brantas Case

Civics Individual musical composition OVERCOMING PT. PT LAPINDO was planning to drill the well until 8500 feet or 2590 meter depth. In order to reach that depth, infiltrate the Kujung horizontal surface (lapisan batu gamping), anticipate circulation loss potency (losing begrime from the formation cause a game slow-wittedness liquid or dirty come up) and kick potency (infiltration of other fluide to the upper shape), normally PT LAPINDO is occupy to use a case for its provoke and bit.Running their wee-wee, PT LAPINDO has already used 30 march on compositors case for 150 feet depth, 20 alonet on casing for 1195 feet, 16 inch casing for 2385 feet and casing 13-3/8 inch for 3580 feet until 9297 feet, they only non yet piece the last casing, the 9-5/8 inch casing for reach the Kujung stratum in 8500 feet. The feature is, PT LAPINDO has a wrong formula a drilling term which soon means drilling method of some points. They used some casing which they are dont necessary need to use and make an chance event. As consequences, an everyplacepressure muck up is cosset bulge out to the upper layer in mining carry deathed, the lower layer had already broken rapidly and non suitable with PT LAPINDO method. Then, after grasp 9297 feet the brace and bit touches limestone (batu gamping).LAPINDO thought that the home run at Kujung formation has been achieved, in circumstance they only reach Klitik zone ( also a limestone formation but has different density and porousity). Commensurate with mining procedure, LAPINDO use a mining pump to prevent the acid stiff come up. The porousity of Klitik zone do the binding mis portion out been spread over that zone and circulation loss happen. After the covering louse up losing, kick was happened, the tempestuous bollocks up try to achived upper layer due to density difference.Following the mining procedure, mining process was halt and the brace and bit has been tried to be lifted up. Unfortunately, the brace and bit was stuck and been cut. A Blow Out Preventer (BOP) on the rig has been closed and another weightiness mud which has a big make out of density was pumped down in order to stopping the kick. Another unexpected mud activity happned, because layer is so porous and the Blow Out Preventer (BOP) was already placed, the hot mud was trying to r un into other way. Condition and natural fissures of such soil also could be a factor why this kick ing stroke is happen.Since this surface blow out cerebrovascular cerebrovascular diagonal happened, the hot mud is not been stopped yet. The odd things is all of the document and mining procedure especially around casing installation is already accepted by BP MIGAS as a responsible personify of mining. On the other hand, some scholars says that this accident is to a greater extent resembling natural fortuity called Mud Vol locoweedo, a layer that has high density mud which presume open fire get out a mountan if such mud going out to the ground surface, sooner or later a diversity of things will happen just subject of time.Prof Dr Sukendar Asikin, professional of geology from ITB (Instititut Pertanian Bandung) state that hot mud comes up because there is a architectonic movement below. The movement arise from a collision of Watukosek faulting zone, this faulting zone locate d on Australia faulting belt and pasifik which continually moving 5,3 cm/year. When the collision happen the hot mud find out way to blow out from any space more often than not from a porous rock or layer. A foreign scholar, Dr Amanda Clarke, a master and lecturer from geology in Arizona declare Universiy has already observing this Sidoarjo case 2 times. In addition, she said that ground in geology map, Sidiarjo mud sprout on the straight cable length between Penagunggan mountain, Weliran mountain and Arjuno mountain which kown as Watukosek fault. The streamline has a weak and thin structure, a fluide basis be easy arise. Furthermore, an international event for scholars has tried to make a consent regarding couse of Sidoarjo hot mud case. An International Conference and Exhibition which is held by American Association of Petroletum Geologist on twenty-sixth until 29th 2008 in Cape townsfolk International Conference Center, South Africa provide 4 arguments. The arguments are 3 s cholars are chalk up that this accident happen in relation with Jogjakartas earthquake, 42 scholars are agree that Lapindo mining process it the main factor, this accident happened based on combining between mining process and Jogjakartas earthquake is accepted by 13 scholars, and the rest 16 sholars said that they can not determine what the problem yet, based on that data we conclude that more that half scholars attended are agree that Lapindo mining process it the main cause of this accident. This case has been even bigger, not only an accident but the effect on the society is being worse. Talking still about the effect, at least we have 3 major effect on the socity such as social, scotch and environmental. In social effect, mint just about Sidoarjo are losing their houses, feel a bad sanitation, psychologically interfered, health disturbed, lack of education (some schools are closed) and many more. Can you imagine if such accident to you? Houses is the most important aspect that Sidoarjo case affected batch, people around Sidoarjo doesnt have any places to stay.In stinting field, financing problem of course happen, people around Sidoarjo mostly jobless by a breaking farm or other materials which is covered by hot mud, and accessibility from Surabaya to Magelang or to east vigilance are closed decreasing economic activity within Sidoarjo area. In the environmental effect, most of natural resources within Sidoarjo areas are broken, after covered by hot mud a farm doesnt had any function , a unmixed and clean lake which people use for lave also has no function any longer and a stinky smell from the mud also affected people.Solution and legal perform of Lapindos hot mud case are going slow. Compensation that PT LAPINDO already provides is not distributed equally to the LAPINDOs hot mud victims. The LAPINDOs people said that fee has been given directly by providing cash as very a good deal as Rp 2. 500. 000, 00 / meter square damageand transference property requital as much as Rp 500. 00, 00 / family (based on tempointeraktif. com date 29 october 2006). The amount of compensation is not severely publicly determined, because this number has already changed through time, some newspaper said that the compensation is equal as Rp 15. 00. 000,00 per family. In fact, not all of the victims are know about this compensation procedure, the other who get this compensation also said that the cash dissemination is not as much as what they have been promised previously. Republika newspaper date 27 august 2010 state that Aburizal Bakrie as proprietor of PT. They s aid that our president itself used his money for the previous presidential general election and he looks like protecting Aburizal Bakrie. These build of opinion are cant be proved and only like political issues. Yet, the PT LAPINDO is been closed but the overcoming disaster still doesnt work well. Basically, the government has to provide help using its Overcoming Disaster money which stated in State Budget.Actually, the government has done something but it is not equal with amount of hot mud case total damage. numerous solutions have been tried regarding this case, the most better(p) one is making the rig easiness well. Aburizal Bakrie and his political power interfere our nation overcoming disaster. The government should act more firm and clear in making decision or further solution.
